Why do you think The Food Basket is an important support organization for hungry on the Big Island?
The importance of the Food Basket cannot be measured or defined by words. Simply, the smiles on the faces of those who are in need of food seems to reflect the incredible impact of ALOHA that is shared within our community of people who go hungry each day. The people have responded by caring for each other and I would have to say that is a great and loving response.

How have you personally supported the services of The Food Basket, why ,and will you continue?
My support has generally been to pick up food on Tuesdays and being a voice in our community and church body as to the effectiveness of the Food Basket and the services that they provide.

Why do you choose to do this?
The calling in my heart is to help those who cannot help themselves when it comes to feeding their families.

Have you ever personally had to access a service like this, or has someone you know had too…how did that feel? (do you think that has allowed you to be more compassionate to the hungry)
Well, it is always an important part of any ministry to build a relationship with those you are serving. Therefore I know the people who are taking the opportunity to supply their homes with food. My obsevation of our new friends is that they are thankful for how we (Mokuaikaua) have opened up our facility to feed our local community. We have grown in our relationships and the rewards are in increase in our faith, hope and love.

Is there anything else you’d like to say to encourage others to consider the problem of hunger on the Big Island, and support the Food Basket?
Just believe that you make a difference in the lives of those who are in need.
